Excel Function make calculations using fill color as identifier?

Is there a way to use the fill color in cells to create calculations rather
than the grid identifier system?

Please give us an example.

If you want to sum by color for example you need to write a vba routine.

Unless he/she is using 2007, then one can use SUBTOTAL and filter by colour
