Excel has grown too cumbersome for this function

Does anyone have a sample Access database that would be able to track sales
of 20 sales reps monthly and cumulatively and be able to report along the way
at any point?

There is a sample database that comes with Access called
Northwind. While this is set up to track orders, it can
easily be expanded to track sales information instead.
