Excel has no Insert menu

I've upgraded to Office 2004 but now the Insert menu is missing when
the program is open. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding how to
restore the Insert menu? In Excel Help, the Insert menu is referenced
several times, so I believe it's supposed to be there...

One way:

Choose Tools/Customize/Customize Toolbars/Menus... Select the Worksheet
Menu Bar item (so that it's highlighted, not just the checkbox checked).
Click Reset.
