Excel highlights multiple cells and then freeze

Hello,
When I am working in Excel and highlight multiple cells,
my computer will freeze and I cannot get the cursor to
stop "clicking". Its as if I highlight a cell and never
let go of the left click button. I have to ctrl-alt-del to
end excel and then I have to restart my computer. This
doesn't happen all of the time, but it is starting to
happen more often. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If this is an irregular occurence, it probably requires reinstalling Excel.
