This has happened several times. A coworker sends me a spreadsheet. I open
it and can see all columns except A and B. I cannot use the usual procedure
and unhide Columns A and B (select all columns by clicking on upper left
cell; Window; Unhide). We both use EXCEL 2002 SP-2.

Unhiding windows has nothing to do with unhiding columns.
Press Ctrl+A, Format > Column > Unhide.

And check to see if you have Frozen panes.

(Window|UnFreeze Panes would remove it)

.
Sorta tricky but if you go to the column "C" place your
mouse just on the line to the left of "C" and the blank
box it will turn into the TWO Arrows Slid this to the
right Column "B" will appear do the same thing with
Column "A". Had this happen to me and that was the only
way around it after several moments of frustration. Hope
it works for you.
