Excel is asking for disk to open

When I try to open Microsoft Excel, which I use all the time, it gives a
message saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other
removable disk that is not available. Insert the Microsoft Office 2000
Premium disk and click OK."

It doesn't do this with Word or other Microsoft applications, so I'm not
sure what's going on. Thanks if you have any insight!

Ah yes, that seems like the obvious answer. Alas, we have no disk. The
programs were downloaded to our computer in 2001 and who knows where the disk
is now. I just don't understand why it's now asking for the disk when it's
never asked for it before.

My office asks for the disk to be inserted if I am using an area of the
program I haven't either 1) items that were not installed during the initial
installation 2) items that I have never used before eg. templates.
I put in the CD click OK and I am off and running again with the new
features installed.

There may be no resolution to the problem without the disks. I would suggest
asking the installed the program where they are. After all, I assume you
paid for Office, you have to have the CDs.
