Excel - No Longer Prompted to Save When I Close File

Not sure what happened, but Excel does not prompt me now to save when I close
the file. It has been...

check if the file is set to ready only, if yes, press f12 click on tools -
general options, remove the ready only recomendatin flag and save it as a new
name.
