Excel Playing Up

Hi

Does anyone know why my curser malfunctions in Excel?
When I click on a cell, instead of highlighting it, the
curser moves freely and quickly over many, many cells
preventing me from doing anything. I can't stop the rapid
highlighting and I can't quit Excel while this is
happening. Is this a bug or something?

Has anyone else had this problem?

try hitting F8 (toggle the 'extended mode'). If this does not help
