All,
I am in one of several offices supported by one purchasing office. The
purchasing office keeps all purchasing actions in one Excel workbook. The
purchasing office does not want offices to see the other offices purchases.
They have agreed to me querying their workbook from one of mine. The query
only returns our purchases. The workbook is read for all, but is buried deep
in their directory structure so as long as people do not know where it is,
they are happy.
Well, for two weeks, the query worked well. Anyone just had to right mouse
click and select Refresh Data. About a week ago, without any warning dialog
boxes, the source workbook started to be opened. This is exactly what I did
not want to occur. I have searched Excel help, Microsoft online help and
TechNet. I have not found any answer that would tell me how to turn this off
or what I need to modify or fix so that this source workbook will not open.
