I made several changes to an excel document and saved it. Now I would
like to see my previous version of the document before the changes. Is
there a way to find this?
I've found it useful to tell Excel 2003 to keep a backup of Excel files.
There's one level of backup, and the backup file has extension xlk (rather
than xls). It's stored in the same directory as the Excel file.
How to tell Excel this is kind of obscure.
Use:
File > Save as
In the "Save as" dialog box take an extra step, using:
Tools > General options
and checking "Always create backup."
This has to be done for each Excel file. Once the file is tagged this way,
the tag sticks with the file; you don't have to take the extra step each
time it's saved.
