Excel & Real Time market quotes?

Im just wondering if there is such a thing -

Basically i use Scottrade, and i can have the real time streamin
quotes up.. which is awesome, except it sticks out like a sore thumb o
my screen at work. Is there any type of Excel based sheet I could us
with hyperlinks to realtime quotes somewhere so its constantl
updating, but its basically just an Excel worksheet with a bunch o
numbers on it? Little more discreet so to speak. Just wondering i
anyones done it or something is out there already before I try to buil
something and find a site it could pull the data from.

I don't know about "constantly" updating. You can create web queries in
Excel that can allow you to access info from the web. Whether it can link to
your broker, probably depends on how the web page is set up.

One alternative might be for you to download and install the amazing Medved
Quotetracker (www.quotetraker.com). It's ad-supported or payware - your
choice, but too good to pass up. The developers provide personal support
through their message board - quite remarkable. The software probably CAN
link to your broker's continual data feed and do it silently and invisibly
from the system tray. The software also contains an internal server that can
feed data to Excel (using an internal web query). So you conceivably could
create a non-descript Excel sheet that would query Quotetracker sitting in
your system tray any time you click on a graphic or something. You'll need
to create a macro that tell Excel when to fetch the data, though maybe it
can be automated. I created such an Excel sheet years ago. Works great and
turns all my real-time quotes into pie charts, and graphs and everything
else.

It'll be a lot of work for you, but a fun project.

Hope this help some anyway.
