Excel: save not completed

When I try to save excel documents stored with the apple key + s I get
the following error message:
Save not completed
File rename failed

Any tips on how to resolve this error? I run Office 2004 and OS 10.3

Sounds like you're saving them to a location that you don't have rename
or delete permission for.

Try resetting disk permissions using the Disk Utility from the
HD:Applications:Utilities folder.

If you're trying to save on a remote server, contact the server's
administrator.
