from the network before saving it to the hard disk, the
inner window of Excel hangs up and the partent window
containing the menus and toolbar doesn't show up.i am un
able to maximize the child window. only i can minimize or
close the child window. also it shows the data inside the
child window. it worked fine whith SP1 but now with WinXP
SP2 it does not open the the excel sheet.
is this a problem of SP2 , i could not find any article
regarding this. so please help me...

I doubt it's a problem with XPSP2 but much more is now protected by default.
If your network administrator is ok with it because you have a hardware or
other software firewall, I would turn off the windows one which is now
enabled by default. This can be found in the security console in control
panel.

I have a hardware firewall in my router here at home and Norton internet
security firewall, both the windows and Norton are turned off as the
hardware one passes every test I've given it but check out your own security
before trying this

Hi,
Try to directly open a excel attachment without saving
it to your hard disk from your mail,or from the internet.
with Win XP SP2 installed on your system and see if it
opens properly.
Reply if it works properly on your side otherwise i
think its the problem of SP2 and request you to send me
some remedy for it.
looking forward for your reply.
Amit...
