Excel Spreadsheet to track cost of hundreds of parts

I am a student intern at a major automotive supplier. I am working on
tracking the cost of hundreds of parts and finding people who will make those
parts. I need to track the parts that are in the bid, the parts sent out and
to whom and the bid results. I am having problems fitting it "elegantly" on
8.5"x14" landscape. Does anyone have a format that will fit 8.5"x14" going
lengthwise yest still present enough data?

I'm not sure how you define "elegant" but what's more important is that the
data is correct. Making something appealing is fine for some things but if
your data isn't complete/accurate, the fact that it's appealing isn't going
to matter in the end.

Figure out what columns you need, use text wrap where needed, and remember
KISS.

I would use Access Database, for the job. The only trouble is
that Access in not easy to learn as it does not work the way we
normally work. It takes some time and effort before Access becomes
useful, which is why I would guess it is not included in most versions
of Office.

If you are going to do this a lot and on a professional level, I
would suggest you may want to look into Access
