Excel Stop Recording Button Disappeared

I have Office 2000 and I use Excel to record macros in my workbooks. In the
past a "Stop Record" button would show up when I would begin recording a
macro, but at some point it stopped displaying. Why did it go away and how
do I get that button to display again?

Hi

Start recording a macro, using Tools|Macro|Record new macro. Enter on the
name form. Click on Tools|Customise|, select Tools, scroll down to Record
Macro and click on it. Go out of the customising screen and it will be back.
Stop the recording by clicking on the stop button. Hey DON'T click on the X
again, or it will dissappear again!

Ahh! I tried everything you said. It didn't return the Stop Recording button
like I hoped. Originally, I think the button stopped appearing when I ended
the macro recording prematurely. I can still Stop Recording from the
Tools|Macros|Stop Recording option, but I want to see the dynamic button on
my screen without having to drill down to stop the recording. Is there a
skewed registry setting or? Maybe I should just update to the latest version
of Office.

Kassie, thanks so much for your response. Maybe my original note was not
very clear. I hope you can add some additional insight to my problem.

Maybe you should try to move the Macro Recording button to the toolbar whilst
in macro recording mode. Oh yes, and to stop recording that macro (The one I
told you to record), click on Tolls, Macro, Stop recording. The recording
button should then be visible on your sheet, so no click on the Stop button,
not the X
