Excel Stuck in Formula Bar (VS2005)

I have a com addin that works great apart from one strange behavior.

If you edit a cell by clicking in the formula bar, you can't get back out of
the formula bar! Editing a cell 'in place' ie double-clicking works fine.

Anyone seen this/ know what's wrong?
