Our company says it is going to introduce Thin Client Technology - i
"dumb terminals" - no hard drive & everything from a Windows 200
server. XP operating.

Any experience to share

Hi
several of the clients I work for have this kind of installation.
Personally I like this setup (esp. from a software rollout
perspective). You may encounter the following issues (all with Citrix
Metaframe)
- Clipboard issues
- Probably at the beginning some slower response time (as they have to
'learn' their new system'
- Maybe at the beginning some problems with macros as they have to
allow them and set your settings correctly

But for the normal user IMHO you probably won't really notice a change
and depending on your Network also Performance probably would not be an
issue.

Bad Probably no way to install addins (as they probably will
restrict this usage)

In my experience thin client equates to thin wallet, often the advanteages of
thin client are consumed by the disadvantages, "run on old hardware" is this
something you really want to do? and if so, then stay with W98/W2K or
whatever is already running on these systems. IF Redundancy is is a key to
reliability, then why opt for a solution that puts all of your eggs in one
basket - the server.
