Hi Lisa
In Excel, select the area that you want to copy. Hold down Shift, then click
Edit > Copy Picture. Choose "As shown when printed". Switch to Word and
paste.
Since the gridlines don't print, they won't appear when you paste.
By the way, you might experiment with Edit > Paste Special and try different
formats for pasting. I find pasting as a picture often gives the best
results.
