Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have a post here - http://www.officeformac.com/ms/ProductForums/Excel/5980

But seem to not be able to get an answer as it bugs down on the focus of the message I get, so hopefully this will help to rephrase it.

I have just upgraded to 10.6.2 (SL) and work on Office 2004.

Have a Excel sheet, it is in a language other than UK English. I try to change the dictionary to do a spell-check, in 'Tools > Language…'.

Doing this brings up the box with the message: [Set Language]Setlangcode!b28 see image here: http://drop.io/0vhss5m

Leading to this if I click above box: http://drop.io/0vhss5m2089#

As you see, if I try to fix it, it claims the dictionary is not installed in the 'Proofing Tools Folder' however it is and always was. Needles to say it worked fine under 10.5 and in all other Office 2004 programmes.

So my question is; why can I no longer change the language in my Excel sheets!.

I know for example that sometimes Word flips out and if I than remove some files from the user system folder it works again. Would that be the case here? Any thoughts?

Anybody knows how to fix this? Thanks

Hi

Word is the control spot for spelling and grammar in Office.

Open Microsoft Word and choose Word > Preferences.
In the Authoring and Proofing tools section, choose Spelling and Grammar
In the Spelling section click the Dictionaries button
Select the Custom Dictionary check box.
You can add other dictionaries here. Make sure any dictionaries you want
to use are checked.
Click OK to close the custom dictionary and then click OK to close the
Spelling and Grammar preferences tab.
Click OK to close the Custom Dictionary box, and then click OK again to
close the preferences panel.

Once you have activated the custom dictionaries in Word, they should
available to all of the Office applications. You may have to restart
each application in order to take advantage of the changes you made.

There's more about custom dictionaries on pages 232-240 of Office 2008
for Mac All-in-One For Dummies
