Excel won't load file when launched from explorer

This is difficult to describe, so I recorded a movie and posted it to
YouTube. Please watch it to see what I am talking about:

Here is the description of what happens:

I launch a .xls file from explorer and Excel opens, but the file is not
loaded. If I launch the .xls file again with Excel already started, the file
does load fine. This is not an issue with .xlsx files (new format). I am
using Office 2007.

I have searched high and low, trying many things along the way, but cannot
seem to solve this problem. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,
Dennis

Try
BLob>>Excel Options>> advanced
and search down there for the 'ignore other applications', make sure
this is not ticked - it sounds like it is.

Simon,

Thanks for the reply. This was not checked. I have tried it with checked
and with unchecked. This was the most common thing I read about in blogs.
It does not solve my problem.

I appreciate the idea. Any more ideas, please keep them coming.

Thanks again,
Dennis

I have had trouble opening my excel files for months now. When I tried to
open a file it would say the name was not correct. I tried your suggestion
and it works.

Thanks alot you saved me a lot of hassle.
