Excel Worksheets in Groove

Hope someone can help?
I have 5 friends all using a file sharing workspace. I have added 2 friends
today adn they are unable to amend or update an excel spreadsheet within the
workspace. They can amend and save word documents so in general terms the
groove function is working, just not for excel files.

Hi Dominic,

What are the roles of the users in the space? Are they Participants or
Managers?

What are they exact behaviors they are seeing when they try to amend a
spreadsheet?

Gregg,

Thanks for the message. I am the Manager and everyone else is a participant.
They amend the excel spreadsheet and then save it (all as you would normally
do). A copy of the file is created in the workspace. This copy has not saved
the changes. It is really strange. A copy is only normally created when there
is an editing conflict & any changes can be seen.
I downloaded Groove on their laptops and I havn't done anything different to
the other participants. They can amend & save word documents in the same
workspace. I am sure it is a simple setting somewhere but I just cant seem to
find it.

Hi Dominic,

Interesting. I am going to try and reproduce this. Can you tell me does
this happen with all workspaces, or just this one? What version of Groove
are you using, Office Groove 2007 or Groove Virtual Office 3.1?

Is this a Standard workspace with a Files tool or is it a Groove Files
Sharing Workspace?

Hi,

They are all file sharing workspaces. I have just changed their roles from
participants to managers and this seems to have fixed the problem. I still
have no idea why this has happened. I was the manager with 6 participants. I
have now changed everyone to to 'manager'. Is there a limit on the number of
participants? Even if this were the case I still dont understand why they
could change word documents but not excel?

Thanks,

Dominic

Hi Dominic,

There is no limit on the number of managers, participants, or guests.
However the problem might be with the properties of Excel itself and the
ability to read and write to those documents. Can you reproduce this in a
standard Groove Space? I cannot seem to reproduce this.
