spreadsheet shortcut will not open when double-clicked.
It takes three steps before opening. Does anybody has a
solution?

When you say "three steps" do you mean you are encountering several
messages before the file opens? If so what are they?

Also it could be just a matter of needing to recreate the file
association. Go to Start/Run and run:

excel /regserver

Note the space before the forward slash.
