I have Excel at my place of employment and Office at
home. Is there any way to make the two work together?

Office is a suite of Applications that includes Excel, Word, Access,
Powerpoint, Outlook.

So, the answer is most likely "yes, you can make the two work together if you
have Remote Desktop set up"
