Excel97 SR-1 problem

Don't know what key I clicked but when I try to add 6.36 to a cell I get
1/6/1900 in that cell instead after hitting Enter. In the formula bar above,
I guess; the value is 4.27. Just adding up expenses in a single column,
nothing tricky. Thanks, Steve T.

(1) Maybe the cell is formatted to display a Date. Select the cell, choose
Format | Cells | Number, and select General or a Number format.

(2) Unrelated, but Excel 97 SR-1 had many bugs that were fixed with SR-2.
Get it.
