excel_builtin_filterdatabase error!?

Hi Guys, I work for a company where we use excel for our records keepin
on dealer rebates. We get tons of them by the end of the month and exce
has been working fine until...

Whenever we open the excel file, all of the worksheets suddenly ha
different formatting; the cells are too big, too small and we notice
that there is this big "excel_builtin_filterdatabase_5" text on th
background of some of the worksheets.

Our IT guys don't know what's up since they don't do any exce
programming.

We have theories that could have led to this but we're speculating;
(1) The excel is in a machine that runs Windows. One of the employee
here use a Mac. When she opens it in her Mac, somehow the formattin
for the excel file gets screwed up and it shows up in our Windows...
(2) The excel file is too large that it somehow gave up?

Please guys, help us out here. Thank you so much

Try re-setting the zoom level of all sheets back to 100%. That will get rid of
the big text (it is in fact a range name, which are shown at zoom levels around
25% or less).

Not sure what caused your problem though.

Thanks Jan. We tried your suggestion but it made all the cells a lo
more bigger than usual. We tried to reset the rows and columns but i
tells us an error.

No, it just says that we can't modify the height of the rows but the
columns we can. It's very wierd. We use a lot of worksheets in this
workbook and each sheet has a format of its own. We tried doing the
100% zoom and it didn't work.

OK. Sounds like a file that is nearing its end.

Open the file, do a file, Save-as and choose filetype Web page (html).
Next, close the file and re-open the html file. Save that as a normal excel
workbook.
This might get the file up and running again.

Thanks so much Jan. I tinkered around Excel and discovered the Format -
Style. The font was set to 100 which caused it to look bigger than wha
it was supposed to be. Stranger than that, each worksheet had differen
configurations.

So we re-did everything and all seems back to normal. Your respons
somehow helped since it gave me an idea that there was something wron
with the formatting since the transition from Html to Excel did th
trick.

Thanks again
