Exceptions to RBS resource access

In our 2007 implementation, we have the category for our PMs set up so
they only see reources on the same level of the RBS or lower. We have
a few exceptions where a PM will need to be able to add a resource to
a plan where the resource falls outside of the RBS. What would be the
best process for doing this? My plan was to set up an exceptions
Group and Exceptions Category and add the resources to the resources
section of the category permissions and include that category in the
Exceptions Group. I would then add the PM to the Exceptions Group.
The PM would also retain the PM group permissions. However, when I
try this the exception resources do not appear in the Resource Center
view for the PM. Any help/recommendations would be appreciated.

Your approach is exactly what I would recommend. However, I think you are
missing a setting or two. In the Exception category, make sure you select
one or more Resource Center views in the Views section at the bottom of the
page. Open the Exception group for editing and then select the Exception
category in the Categories section. In the Permissions grid for the
Exception category, make sure you set the View Enterprise Resource Data
permission to Allow. Hope this helps.

Selecting a view in the Resource Center did the trick. Thanks for the
help.
