Exchange in Recovery Mode?

K

When I click to launch my Outlook 2003, a message box pops up to let me know
that Exchange is in recovery mode. This does not happen to everyone. What
is the problem, and how do I fix it?

This message usually indicates that there is a problem with the mailbox on the server. It would be prudent to export all your data from Outlook to a .pst file using the File | Import and Export command, so that you have a local backup just in case the mailbox has been deleted. Then, check with your mail administrator to see what the problem might be.

Assuming it's a bogus warning and the admin really isn't recovering the
server, it's something goofy with the profile - the easiest fix is a new
profile.

You could delete the ost (if using cache mode) for the profile and let
outlook rebuild, provided you are sure it's a bogus alert and not a problem
with your mailbox on the server.
