Exclusive use error code in shared database

Why do I get "you do not have exclusive use...etc" error code for shared
database when our 2003 Access DB is shared by all users and no one is in the
database in design mode? To close error code, it is necessary to use task
mgr and "end task" to close Access, otherwise it will never "go away".

Also, one of our 3 databases has this error code when trying to go into
design mode for reports when NO one else is even in the office or the
database? We do not have any of the DB's split and only 3 users max using
the DB's concurrently. DB's reside on separate server which is connected to
PC workstations.

My options for Access are for all objects to be shared, which is the same
for everyone else.

If I interpret your description literally, you have multiple (more than one)
users sharing a single file (i.e., database) located on your network. If
this is your situation, be aware that this setup is much more likely to
result in corruption and other issues than a properly split database
application.

Have you confirmed with your network folks that all the users have
read-write permissions on the location?
