Expanding margins

Joe B.

I expanded the margins in a Word 2003 document from 5" to 6.5". I'm looking for a way to now get the text to wrap back up and fill in the additional space, WITHOUT having to use the backspace on each and every line to fill up the blank space
Anyone have any tips on how this can be accomplished? MS Help said to first highlight the text I want to expand, then go to "File", "Page Setup", "Margins", enter the new figure for "
Margin" (again, I entered 6.5), then select "Apply To Selected Text" (or "Whole Document"). This did not work. All of the codes indicate [carriage] returns are still in place preventing the text from wrapping back up. In short, I guess I need a way to remove all of the return codes from each line in the selected text so the text wraps up to the blank areas at the end of each of the expanded lines. Thanks. J.B.

Uh, you shouldn't have a hard return (carriage return) at the end of each
line, b/c Word will wrap the text for you when typing. Only hit return to
start a new paragraph.

Had you let Word wrap the text, the margin expansion would have worked fine.
Help is inapplicable to your case, as it was not written for people using
Word as though it were a typewriter.

That said, I think this link will help with your specific problem:

And this link will help you learn more about using Word more efficiently:
