explorer screen COMPLETELY GREY when trying to clip into Onenote.

when hitting 'screen clipping' the explorer page does come up but is
completely grey, not just dim as it should be, and even trying to clip this
screen results in a black clipping in onenote. help please.

After years of fiddling with this issue, I think I stumbled upon a neat trick
at:

User fghb suggested the following which worked for me:
* Start OneNote
* Start clipping
* Simultaniously ( the correct white, semi-transparent screen appearing)
I started the IE7 by using a keyboard-shorcut
* Now clipping works again as usual even after restarting OneNote and IE7.

In my case I had to try a couple times to clip and launch IE almost
simultaneously, but after a few tries it works!
