I use Camtasia to do this but it's not cheap. I wonder if Microsoft Producer
would do what you're looking for.

I second that Camtasia is a budget buster for some, or you can try
"PPT2DVD"($99), available here http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com , also makes
it possible to convert ppt to videos.
