Export data to MS Excel to NOT include 100% complete task

Hi,

I have couple questions, does anyone know how to:

1) Export data from MS Project to Excel (Task Table) which does NOT include
100% complete tasks?

2) I also would like to EXCLUDE exporting of summary tasks - what I do as a
temp work-a-round is after exporting data, in Excel sort the tasks by
Resource Name which pushes all the summary tasks toward the end as they don't
have resource assigned - but I AM THINKING THERE MIGHT BE A BETTER AUTOMATED
WAY than what I am doing..

Thanks for your help!
Lilly :)

Hello Lilly,

You can change the export map to run a filter on export. On the
Export Wizard - Task Mapping select a filter from the "Export
Filter" drop down.

So, for question 1, use the "Incomplete Tasks" filter.

For question 2 - edit the filter Project > Filtered For > More
Filters, select and edit -- to remove the "Show summary Task check
box."

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Assuming Project 2003, apply filters before you do the export.
To hide summary tasks, Tools/Options/View. Deselect "Show Summary Tasks"
near the bottom center of the window.

To only show incomplete work you can do a custom filter on the %Complete
column and set it to "Does Not Equal" 100%. You can also select "Incomplete
Tasks" from the filter drop down.

Hi,

I can't use the incomplete filter in the export filter because I am already
using "Date Range" filter.

Even though I hid the summary tasks, it's still exporting summary task?!?!

Regarding your reply below: when I go to "More filters" I see several
options listed to base the filtering, i.e. Summary task; when I click on it,
then click on the [Edit] button, I get, a table with Field Name = Summary,
Test=equals, Vaues = yes. is this where I need to hide summary task.

Because I already hid the summary task from the options, view tab & it's
still exporting the summary task.

Thanks a BUNCH - APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!!!

Hi Lilly,

Have you considered creating a new filter based upon the Date Range
filter to remove Complete Tasks and summary tasks as well? Take a
look at the Date Range filter and then add information from the
Incomplete and Summary task (equaling "no") filters.

Does that show what you want?
