Exporting a Report from Access 2003 to Excel is missing Text field

When I export a Report to Excel all text fields in a group footer are missing
in Excel. If I export the Report to an RTF text file, all the fields export
correctly.

The report has both text fields and summary fields in the group footer. The
summary (numeric) fields export correctly but the text fields are missing.
How do I correct this problem?
