Exporting a Vew

I am in the Resource Usage View and I've modified it to include the following
fields:

Resource Name
Work
Actual Work
In the Calendar section, I've set the display to months and I'm showing work
and actual work. I'd like to take a snapshop of that picture and paste it
into Excel. I've tried cutting and pasting but I don't get the calendar
information. Any ideas?

Try the "analyze timescale data in Excel" utility found on the Analysis
toolbar.

You also might try the Copy Picture to Office Wizard....it's a button on
the toolbar which looks something like a camera. It will create a picture
of what you're looking for (a graphic), which you can then either paste into
an Office app, or save as a .GIF file.

John, thanks for the reply. Yes, I've tried the analyze timescale but it
doesn't allow me to add more info about the resource - for example, I want to
insert the type of resource into the view - analyze won't export that
additional field. Any other ideas?

PK Consulting,
Well yes that's right, the utility is a bit limited. Other options
include a two step approach. Export all the static fields you want using
an export map and then combine that with the timescale data from the
utility. You will need to do some data manipulation in Excel but at
least you can get there eventually.

If I were doing what you are trying to do I would create my own VBA
macro to export and format the data exactly as needed. Of course this
option is only viable if you know VBA or if you know someone who does or
want to hire someone to do it for you. If you do NOT know VBA but would
like to learn, fellow MVP, Rod Gill has a book specifically dealing with
Project VBA. For more info, go to, http://www.projectvbabook.com.

Hi,
Exporting through Save As doesn't export Timescaled data I'm afraid.
It is doable to program all this in VBAbut that is not very easy.

I've tried all of these and there is always one problem. So, I've exported
using the timescale feature and I'm using excel to match up some additional
information. Thanks for everyone's replies.

PK,
You're welcome. As both Jan and I noted, for custom reports that include
timescaled data, VBA is the way to go, although it isn't as difficult as
Jan's seemed to imply.
