Hello
We have setup a schedule for forecasting purposes only... it's based on
the projects that are in the sales process which we look like winning
so that we have an idea on what resources (roles only for this
particualr schedule) we will need and when.
We have entered a monthly projection for 2007 and what we would like to
do is every month export this information out to excel and email to our
sales guys... they then update the monthly projections in the excel
file and email back to me... I will then import this information back
in the existing project schedule to update their changes.
The challenges I'm having are:-
1. I can export the data out at task level with resources etc but the
allocated work hours is just one total and not the monthly breakup that
I see in the task usage screen
2. If I use "Analyze Timescaled data in excel" function it gives me
the monthly work hours and the summary tasks but not all the tasks or
the generic role resources that they have been allocated to.
3. Just for the exercise I used the spreadsheet that I exported
through "Analyze Timescaled data" made some changes and tried to import
it back into the same project schedule but it didn't seem to update any
of the hours in the schedule.
I've tried following all the instructions that I can find in the
manuals but have had no luck.
Is it even possible to do what I am trying to do? ie. export data,
make changes to the hours and then import it back to the same schedule
to update the data.
I would really appreciate any help or advice that you can give me as
I've nearly pulled all my hair out in frustration.
