Exporting emails & contacts

I want to back up stored emails & my contacts. If I export them to a .pst
file, will the data still be on Outlook - does it simply copy the data to a
pst file? Or does it actually move it? Thank you in advance for any help.

Exports just copies things, they will still be Found in Your Outlook.
