exporting outlook messages for archiving purposes

I keep all the mail that I send and receive in Outlook but would like to
export older mail to CD-R's so that space is freed up in my computer. Is
there any tool or macro that would take care of that without having to save
each message individually and then erase it?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, there is. You could use the AutoArchive functionality of Outlook for
this purpose. To access this function you should go to Tools > Options >
Other > AutoArchive... and make the necessary settings. You can set there
(depending on your Outlook version) a number of settings, like after how
many days items should be archived, to which file they should be moved etc.

This function moves the items with a certain age to a PST-file, which you
can back up afterwards to a CD or whichever medium you desire.

Thank you Sandor, for your reply and advice. Of course, the "archiving"
function of Outlook was truly right in front of my eyes but I simply had not
explored it. Thanks again for pointing me in that direction.

Best regards.
