Exporting PAB address book to text file with commas or tabs?

Is it possible to do this? I use a PAB file even though I'm in
Outlook 2000 because it's a portable format so I can use wherever I
go. Very handy.

But I need to export these addresses so that I can use them in another
email client. I've looked in the help and tried to do this, but the
folders that one can navigate to are only the Outlook ones and not on
the hdd.

Can someone point me to a URL to learn how to do this in the special
case of a PAB file?

Thanks.

Just be advised that PAB's are being deprecated and are no longer supported.
They certainly were handy for portability. You can always create a PST file
for your Contacts.

Good morning!

Through all the importing/exporting I had to do to get my address book into
another email client, I learned that trick <g>. I'm going to give it a try
now to see how much space a PST exported address book will take vs the PAB,
etc., and that'll decide how I handle the address book in future. My
contracts are usu. quite short so it's just so easy to point to a PAB file
rather than the other. Also, I've had no problems with PABs in the 2 years
I've been using this system so wondering why they get bad press. At work
we're always in corporate mode, and I just switched over to corporate at
home. No worries. But I'll see how things go.

Thanks!

You'll likely remain happier with the PAB, then. I just wanted you to be
aware that you may need to look for alternatives since it is hard to predict
how long compatibility with PAB's will remain.
PSTs are big. Also, you'll be better off just copying data into them, not
exporting.

Ah, I suppose it's because I'm still in Outlook 2000 both at home and
office. Once we move on to later versions, that might change, I'm
guessing. It's been great up till now, just pop the floppy in, copy
the PAB and point to it. Easy as pie.

But I'll keep the PST in mind for when we can perhaps no longer use
the PABs.

Thanks.
