expression in table field?

I'm just starting with access.

The books I've picked up have no reference to expressions being put in a
field in the table - only in a query. I've tried putting an expression in a
table field with no success.

Can the number in a table field be the result obtained from a function
performed on data from other fields?

If yes how do you assign the function to the table field?

Hi

If you can calculate the value from other fields in the
table then you don't need to save it, just recalculate it
whenever you need it in a query, form or report.
