This problem started with the inability to send an email to a person that has
an exchange e-mail address, but should be receiving the e-mail through an
external address. Due to the trouble the e-mail address was deleted from the
local contact list, then recreated. When saved and checked through the
addressbook the settings did not save properly. The addressbook lists the
contact as an exchange address. Also in the contact list the contact saves
with the external address listed on the card; however, viewing the properties
of the external address presents the information of the exchange account
associated with that person.
(Note: The exchange server is setup to list that email sent out through it
will convert apparent reply address to be the corresponding external address.)
Also related to this problem. Starting with a new e-mail message and typing
in an external address that is not listed in any contact lists will resolve
to the exchange account address when tabbing to the next line.
The consistancy of the problem is also an issue. I created a new person on
the server and tested things with that set of addresses and found that it was
free from troubles. This person being created only a few hours after one of
the troubled accounts. All processes exactly the same.
I've tried a lot of things to troubleshoot. I need some help here.
This is a run of the mill Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server fully
updated and patched server with Windows XP fully updated and patched clients
by the way.
