I have a Visio 2007 file that I created and linked to a spreadsheet in an
Excel 2007 file. The Visio data graphics display data from the Excel file.
When I re-opened the Visio file, the Excel data is not available in the
External Data window. If I create a link to the data source and re-link to
the data, Visio will not allow me to rename the link to the original name
because "the name XXXX is already in use", so clearly Visio still knows about
the previous link.
I have had this happen several times on different files. Ideally I would
like to recover the original external data link, but if I cannot do that, I
would like to know what I am doing that is creating this problem.
