External Dependancies

Eán

I am trying to link two tasks in two separate project plans to show an
external dependancy, however when I type my path into the id column on one of
the projects it comes up with the message patch unknown, depite recognising
it as an external task.
I am using MSP Professional 2003, but don't not have Project Server.

Am I doing this wrong or is there another technique?

Many thanks

Hello Eán,

The easiest method is to create a consolidated project file using
both projects. Open both project files and then choose Window > New
Window in the menu. In the dialog box, select both files. This
will create a consolidated project file. You can then expand both
project summary tasks as needed. Select the predecessor task in the
first project, CTRL + click on the successor task in the other
project and then use the Link Tasks button on the standard toolbar.

No need to type in the long path.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
