External dependency

Hi,

In relation to the subject -Creating Dependencies Between Projects- I read
the following in the MSP Help files: "project schedule is not updated
automatically when external dependencies change" Also:

"To selectively accept changes to external predecessors, in the Task column,
select each external predecessor or successor that has changes that you want
to accept, and then click Accept".

My question is that even when the (Automatically accept new external data)
box under Tools>Options>View tab> is checked off, still the dependant task
in my project plan is updated automatically, why...? I use Project std
2007,

Any idea please, thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply,
can you please elaborate, I tried all options and still the dependant task
is updated automatically as a result of changing entry data of the external
predecessor.

1) Apparently I pointed you in the wrong place. It's not Edit > Links, but
Tools > Link Between Projects
2) Under Tools > Options > View, make sure you have following setting:

Show Links Between Projects Dialog Box on Open

That should prompt you on opening the file to approve or reject any changes.
