external links

Hi. After working fine for a few months, I have 2
external links from my website to Word documents that no
longer work. When checking for errors and such in FP,
there are no problems and the links work while viewing in
Preview. I removed and re-entered the hyperlinks hoping
that would help, but did not. Only the "web page
requested is not available" thing comes up when trying to
reach these documents. Please help; this is our business
and I'm no guru to fix these things! I have FP 2002.
Thanks for your time.

When you say "external links", do you mean links on other web sites? What's
a URL where we can see this or what does the link look like?

URL to page that links to the document would be helpful

Have check the live site to be sure the documents are there?

Have check with your web host to see if they made any changes to their
server that might may these file unavailable?

.
Our website is www.rockinh.net. Page with link problems
is Gathering page. (Actual URL to the page with problems
is members.getgoin.net/~rockinh/gathering.htm)
The links are about halfway down the page, "Pre-register
now" and "View schedule of events for 2004 gathering".
By 'live site', you mean actually going into the website
through the internet, right?! This is where I cannot pull
up the links to my Word docs. I will also contact our
web host. Thanks.

Hi. By external links, I have two Word documents I have
linked to my web site. These are registration documents
for our business that people can click on a link, open
the document, print out, and return by mail to us.
Website is www.rockinh.net, gathering page. (Complete URL
is members.getgoin.net/~rockinh/gathering.htm) About
halfway down the page is a hyperlink, "Pre-register Now"
and "View Schedule of events for 2004 Gathering". These
both go to Word docs outside our website.
Thanks for your help.

And you're sure that the folder and file /2003 gathering/registration
form.doc exist on the web? It could be a path issue. Try changing the
link to an Absolute URL, ex:

http://www.rockinh.net/2003 gathering/registration form.doc

and see if that works. Also, you should never use spaces in your folder or
file names since some browsers will have trouble with this.

You are hosted on a UNIX Server. Unix does not like blank spaces in file
and folder names. You have blank spaces in files and folders. Remove the
spaces or replace with an underbar (_).

Hi, again. I removed the spaces I understood you to be
talking about in the file names, re-hyperlinked
everything and still was not able to retrieve my docs
through the live site. Does the file need to be imported
into my FP program or site? Any more suggestions would be
greatly appreciated! I don't understand why this was once
working and is now not. Thanks again for your time.
