Extra lines appearing in inserted e-mails in my contacts

I have used Outlook in several versions-presently 2003 and have this problem
but never have figure it out.

When I insert an item in contacts and I select an e-mail from my inbox, sent
items, etc., the e-mail always comes in with extra paragraph returns that
aren't in the original e-mail. I have to delete these returns and it is very
frustrating.

My question: Is there any way to prevent this extra returns from appearing?
Does this have to do with the format of the original e-mail? Is there a
setting that I have turned on to produce this result?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

How are you inserting the item and where are you inserting it? What version
of Outlook? Are you using a PST or an Exchange mailbox?

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your response. To clarify - I am not trying to insert anything, I
am simply typing text in an email.

I am also not using Exchange server, I have a stand alone client using a PST
file.

Version is Office XP/2002

Thanks
Janis

I was responding to Jugglertwo. Your problem clearly is not the same as the
original and should be addressed in its own thread, not by hijacking someone
else's thread.

Hi Brian,

Sorry for being so stupid. I have no idea that this is not the same problem.
We both have extra lines appearing in our emails.

I'm sure you didn't intend to sound so harsh in your response and I won't
take it personally. Just a recommendation - maybe it would be a good idea to
consider the tone of your response before hitting post.

Brian:
1) It happens when I am in the body of a contact in the contacts folder.
2) I select the Insert popdown menu and select Item. I select an e-mail in
the Inbox and insert it into the person's contact. When I do this, I get
extra blank lines between the paragraphs that are not there in the original
e-mail.
3) I'm using Outlook 2003 with Exchange mailbox.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Is the data you're inserting coming from an HTML message? I suspect that
it's a conversion from HTML to the Rich Text of the Contact.
