Extra Objects in Custom Animation Area

I was given an existing powerpoint presentation that I'm translating to another language. I'm deleting many of the old text objects and adding new text objects in the new language. As part of this, I'm re-animating many of the text objects in the custom animation area.

On the left side of the custom animation screen in the "Select to animate:" column, I can still see all of the old text objects. To be clear, I've deleted these text objects from the slide itself, but they still appear in the "Select to animate:" list. If I actually try to animate one of these old objects, nothing happens, because the object doesn't really exist on the slide anymore.

How do I remove these OLD text objects from the custom animation area? They are making things quite confusing and I'd like to clean up the presentation and get rid of them.

Thanks!

Hi,

To delete an animation from the animation pane, click on it to highlight
it, then click the X button.

Thanks for the reply. However, I'm not trying to delete a programmed animation from the right hand column in the custom animation area. I'm trying to delete the old objects from the left hand column. These are the objects that it's telling me are available to animate, but they are not available to animate because these objects were deleted from the slide.

How do I delete from the LEFT hand column?

Hi Sara,

The left column "Select to Animate" lists all of the objects on the
slide. If you are still seeing an object listed, then you didn't
actually delete the object.

If you want to put this to the test, click on the background while in
normal view. Press Apple+a or Edit > Select All and then press the
Delete key. That cleans out everything on the slide, and the left-side
list should be empty. Click Undo to bring everything back.

So there's something about the method you are using to delete objects
that isn't working. Make sure the object you want to delete is actually
selected. Text boxes are tricky in that you have to click on the border
of the box instead of inside the box before you press the delete key.
