Extracting an embedded excel file

I've got a ppt file that has an embedded excel file. I need to extract it
out to manipulate data more easily. How do I get the file extracted out?

Assuming it is an embedded worksheet and not just a 'picture' created
from one, try right-clicking and selecting Worksheet Object/Open (as
opposed to Edit). Once it is opened, there will be a new File menu
item that has a "Save as copy" item in it. This will extract a copy.
