Extracting Excel Worksheet from Word Doc

I inserted an Excel worksheet into a Word document by
Insert Object. When I Copy/Paste that Excel worksheet back
into Excel, I lose the column width formatting. Font and
border formatting are preserved.
Is there a way to also preserve column width when
extracting an Excel worksheet from Word?

In Word, right-click on the inserted spreadsheet, and use:
Worksheet object >> Open

This opens the spreadsheet in a new Excel window.

In the Excel window, use:
File >> Save copy as

Hope this helps.
