Extreme Slowdown for Microsoft Products

I have had WORD, EXCEL, PPoint and Outlook all start taking 45-60 seconds to
activate (window opens but no response until 45+ seconds)

I also cannot get my Add/Remove Window to populate

Its taking Windows-XP some 5 MINUTES to load after a boot

System is clean (now - WINFIXER tried to get on and stopped by Norton and
quarantined - then I removed)
Registry has no WINFIXER pieces in it

Any suggestions would be appreciated

It is either that you have remnants of Winfixer remaining on your system and or Norton itself which can play havoc with your system. Norton. I would say it is a combination of both.

I have checked registry - what other means would I use to track this down ?

What other tools/program would clean this up ?

Maybe go to TomCoytes website, download HiJackThis program, list your
log online. Then run www.f-secure.com antivirus tool as well as
Webroots. Norton isn't the save all.
