Extremely slow file system navigation

Hello,

I have a problem with extremely slow file system
navigation in Word, Excel and Outlook. When I try
to 'open' or 'save as' and the browse window opens - If I
then click on the drop-down list to select a drive or
folder the compter locks up for anything up to 10
minutes. I am running Office 2002 on my PC running XP.
Any advice much appreciated.

Check for any no-longer-available network connections and delete them.
